It’s been a few months since we last uploaded, here we are today championing a wonderful company that I stumbled upon while scrolling the TCJ instagram a few weeks ago. SUGi, a project aiming to create biodiversity, climate resilience and wellbeing in existing communities.
Having planted 33 pocket forests of possibility throughout London, creating in their words a “tapestry of biodiversity” through the lives of Londoners. It appears that they are very much on the same mission as The Concrete Jungle. To highlight, suggest and create a more sustainable, biodiverse community for existing and future generations throughout our cities, towns and rural areas too.
Their project in London now has the second highest concentration of SUGi pocket forests in the world trailing behind Aurangabad, India. This is definitely a welcome achievement from our side and should be recognised and celebrated by all communities.

Their pocket forests help to create cleaner air, support mental health and wellbeing of local residents, and encourages communities outside, allowing them to engage with the environment, nature and each other in the process.
Not to mention the other benefits of these little pockets of greenery. They’re highly effective carbon sinks with natural cooling systems, something we’ve talked about previously when discussing solar shading in communities.
Having covered 266 forests, planted over 600k native trees across 65 cities, bringing together a network of communities and transforming urban spaces.
SUGi really have created an incredible network of like minded people looking to not only enhance local communities, but to give back, create biodiversity, a sustainable network within cities. Enhancing the lives of locals and future generations in definitely something worth sharing in my opinion.
If you would like to know more about SUGi and how you can get involved, head over to their website here, and also take a look at their 2025 Impact Report to see why it’s such an incredible idea.
